The Get Back Discography
Unlike many cover bands Get Back are as happy in the studio as they are playing live. Listed here are the bands record releases to date, the first of which was right back in the mid nineties, soon after the band was formed!
2011 - Saturday Night In The Dog House
Recorded Live
For their third CD album release the band went completely live with a gig recording made at the Gillham Gold Live event at Woodgreen Animal Shelter on August 14th 2010.
“Saturday Night In The Dog House” features some of the most popular songs from the bands live set recorded on the night, nothing added and nothing taken away! Recording a live album proved to be a bigger task than it first appeared. None the less a huge case full of microphones plus a few hours of mixing and the album was born.
If you’ve even seen the band live you’ll know just how much energy they put into every performance and it’s certainly all present and correct on this CD release!

"Beautifully recorded, brilliant stuff" - Tony Gillham, BBC Radio
The bands third album and second CD release is entitled "Beehives and Handjives", the title being yet another of Bob's inspired ideas!
For this album the band decamped most of Geoff's studio to Lode Social Club (thanks Jayne) and, over two days in July 2009, recorded much of the album live. The band were keen to capture their dynamic live sound and recording the album that way certainly paid off!
While many of the songs are just as the band play them at gigs, some guest musicians were invited to join in and together they deliver a sumptuous mix of traditional and modern arrangements. Long term friend of the band Graham Brown arranged strings for two tracks ("I Think Of You" and "True Love Ways") and the strings were then recorded at Witchford Baptist Chapel with musicians from Cambridge Symphony Orchestra.
To supplement the band's strong vocal harmonies a number of female voices were added on "Things" and local theatre star Lisa Bushell added backing vocals on "You're Sixteen".
Launched at the Sixties Extravaganza at Woodgreen Arena in October 2009 "Beehives and Handjives" has become a quick seller. A number of fans wondered if the band could possibly top "Don't Tell Me, You've Heard It". It seems like the answers is a resounding "YES"!

2007 - "Don't Tell me, you've heard it!"
Nearly five hundred copies of "Don't Tell Me, You've Heard It!" have been since its launch at a Cambridge Motel, Foxton gig in April 2007. The album took 18 months to record, mainly because the band were struggling to find the time to do it! None the less it showed just what the boys could do in the studio and the album won many friends.
"Don't tell me, you've heard it" was recorded at Geoff's studio - Dreamland although, due to lack of space , the drums were laid down during the Christmas break in Geoff's front room! The album featured 11 tracks, mainly from the fifties and sixties but also some more modern songs from the bands original repertoire which have long since been deleted from the bands current live set.
Track list - 1. Do you wanna dance - 2. Out of time - 3. Yes I will - 4. I should have known better - 5. Let it be me - 6. Dance the night away - 7. You can't do that - 8. Girl from yesturday - 9. Oh, pretty woman - 10. Wonderful tonight - 11. Little Queenie
1996 - One For The Road
The recording of the first demos the band put out was released in small numbers on cassette (remember them?). This first work was recorded by Steve Bottomley at Qualisound in Bar Hill. Sadly the studio closed some years ago now but many Cambridge bands made their first recordings there. Notable customers were The Bible, Ezio and Steve's own band Sun King.
During the early years Get Back played a wider collection of music from the fifties through to the nineties and a this early demo featured tracks original performed by the Eagles and Chris Izzac to name just two.
Playing on the tape were Paul and Dave (both of whom left the band some time ago) along with Richard and Geoff who remain today. The demo was successful in getting the band started so it can't have been that bad!
If anyone still has a copy the band would like it back!
Track list - 1. Peaceful Easy Feeling - 2. Crying In The Rain - 3. House Is A Rockin' - 4. Midnight - 5. Blue Hotel - 6. Searchers Medley
