How it all happened...

Band History

Formed in 1994 the band had just one mission, to play music from the greatest era of rock and roll; the 50’s and 60’s. Whilst other musicians where forming duo’s and playing to backing tracks Get Back did it properly right from the start, with guitars, bass and drums all topped off with super-lush multi-part vocal harmonies.

Two members of the original line-up remain today. Richard (drums) and Geoff (rhythm guitar) started the band after Richard placed an ad in the Cambridge Evening News. They were joined by Dave on lead guitar and Paul on Bass. The band gained a good reputation with local clubs and agents but a year or so later Dave had to leave for personal reasons. It took a few months (and several appearances by well known local "dep" guitar players but eventually the boys found Bob who joined full time on lead. This line up continued for until 1998 when Geoff left for a stint with the Jailbreakers and soon after Paul also departed. The two where replaced by a re-hired Dave and Bob's friend Eddy on Bass.

Dave left again during 2001 to pursue work with the Church so the band took a break. By complete chance Geoff & Richard met up again in the spring of 2003 at a local petrol station (how very "rock 'n' roll)! After a long discussion (and an overcooked pasty) they decided to put the band back together and the line up of Geoff, Richard, Bob and Eddy has remained the same ever since.

Although the set list started with quite an ecclectic set of songs, some fifties and sixties classics and a clutch of more modern tunes, it wasn't long before the bands love of the guitar "beat" bands of the late fifties and early sixties shone through. The band decided to concentrate on the beat style and their regular followers fully approved. Today the band are and one of the most popular and busy acts around.

Get Back enjoys a devoted band of loyal followers who come along, week after week to public gigs and are often first on the dance floor. To those people (you know who you are...) they are eternally grateful.
